Taylor Fritz:
Fritz had a weak start to the grass part of the season, dropping out after the first round in Hertogenbosch and London. However, in the week before Wimbledon, Fritz won the tournament in Eastbourne. This seems to have been a major psychological boost for him.
Fritz started Wimbledon with a solid win over Lorenzo Musetti (6-4, 6-4, 6-4). Musetti did not take a single set.
In the second round, Taylor quietly defeated Alastair Gray (6-3, 7-6, 6-3).
Fritz had never previously won more than two matches at Wimbledon.
Fritz has never made it to the fourth round of Wimbledon.
