Barcelona are said to be keeping close attention to some players in Manchester City who are currently unhappy with Pep Guardiola’s management.

According to recent reports, Barcelona is keeping a close eye on the situations of several Manchester City players who are said to be unhappy with manager Pep Guardiola. El Chiringuito TV journalist Jose Alvarez claims that the Catalan club is monitoring the situations of Kyle Walker, Joao Cancelo, Aymeric Laporte, Ilkay Gundogan, and Bernardo Silva.

Of the five players listed, four have previously been linked with a move to Barcelona. Silva, in particular, has been on the Blaugrana’s radar for some time. The club reportedly attempted to sign him last summer, but financial considerations scuppered the deal. Silva’s lack of playing time in recent matches could be the reason for his alleged unhappiness.

With Barcelona’s financial situation not greatly improved, it remains to be seen whether the club will be able to sign Silva next summer. However, he continues to be linked with a move to the Camp Nou.

Gundogan may be a more realistic target for Barcelona. The German international’s contract with City expires at the end of the season, and recent reports suggest that he is not entirely satisfied with Guardiola.

Laporte, who was previously linked with Barcelona, could also be an option for the Catalan club. The 28-year-old has lost prominence at City this season and has been sparingly used since returning from injury.

Cancelo’s future at City has also been a topic of debate in recent times, with his involvement taking a hit post-World Cup. Spanish clubs are said to be interested in the Portuguese right-back, a position that has been a problem for Barcelona.

Walker, whose contract expires next year, could also be an option for Barcelona. The 32-year-old has seen his game-time take a hit this season and has started just two of City’s last six league games.

Given Barcelona’s Financial Fair Play situation, signing top players who will seek a substantial pay packet will not be straightforward in the summer. For now, however, the club is keeping an eye on the situation of the aforementioned quintet at Manchester City.
