Arsenal have been handed a transfer boost in their pursuit of Italian international Nicolo Zaniolo as the 23years old has requested to leave Roma.

According to reports from Gazetta dello Sport , Italian international Nicolo Zaniolo has requested to be sold by AS Roma in the January transfer window. The young attacking midfielder, who can also play on the wings, has reportedly caught the eye of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who is said to be keen on bringing the 23-year-old to the Emirates.

The reports suggest that Roma could be open to selling Zaniolo for a fee in the range of €35-40 million (£31-35 million), which would represent a solid investment for the Gunners. Zaniolo is considered a versatile and powerful midfielder, standing at 6ft 3in tall, with an imposing physique that could make him well-suited for the physical demands of the Premier League.

Calcio Mercato has described Zaniolo as a “powerhouse”, and his potential arrival could give Arteta an option he currently lacks in the final third. With the player reportedly eager to leave Rome, it remains to be seen if Arsenal will make a move for him, but should they do so, it could be a smart piece of business for the North London side.
